Highlight from the Press conference held by MNS chief Raj Thackeray on 6th April 2021
• I had a few points to discuss with Chief Minister Shri. Uddhav Thackeray regarding the current lockdown in Maharashtra. I wanted to meet him personally, but due to him being in quarantine as a few around him have tested positive, we had a zoom call meeting.
• In Maharashtra, there are maximum numbers of Corona-positive people. There are various reasons for this. Since our state is the most industrially developed, we have a huge number of people coming into our state, and the states they come from, the testing has not been ramped up.
• In the last lockdown, many of the migrant workers went back to their states. I had made a definite demand to the government that whenever they return, they need to be registered and also tested. However, this was not looked into.
• The government has stated that the small-scale industries should keep their working on, but put a hold on their sales. How is this possible, if there is no selling? What are they going to do with their produce?
So, at least allow these places and shops to be kept open for 2-3 days a week.
• During the lockdown, there should be no levy of exorbitant electricity bills. Work is suffering, production is down, people have lost their jobs. How will they bear this burden?
• The banks are resorting to relentless follow-ups on the loans taken. The borrowers are harrowed as the entire business and work process is dismal, people have lost their jobs. In such uncertain times, the harsh follow-ups by them should be curtailed.
• The schools are closed; education is happening online. But, the fee structure is the same? Why? It should definitely be reduced and like the junior classes, even students of classes 9-12 should be promoted.
• The farmers are in deep distress due to the lockdown. The government should offer them the minimum support price structure.
• The government should ensure that the sportsmen get to do their practice. The gyms too can be opened in such a manner, that without crowding and maintaining COVID appropriate behaviour, they should be allowed to function.
• Many of the private hospitals are not taking patients, though there are beds available. The government needs to take on an uncompromising role in this manner and issue a directive for private hospitals to release beds.
• The hospitals need to be made aware of their responsibilities towards the people. We can do it in our style, but this is not the right time.
• To remove contract basis workers; then when corona cases went up, reinstate them. Instead of this haphazard dealing, the government should incorporate them in the municipal corporation permanently.
• A car laden with explosives was found outside Mukesh Ambani’s residence. The issue is who did this and at whose behest? This is the issue on hand. Anil Deshmukh’s matter is not the principal issue. I appeal to the various news mediums to not overlook this.
• How come Parambir Singh spoke about the 100 crore matter only after being removed from the Commissioner’s position? And the entire story of the 100 crore target from bars and restaurants being given to Anil Deshmukh is a truly embarrassing issue.
• In my party’s colleague Jameel Shaikh’s murder case, NCP leader Najeeb Mulla’s name has come to the forefront. His name figured in the Suraj Parmar murder case as well. The state government should look into this.
• Since Najeeb Mulla’s name has come up, the NCP chief Shri Sharad Pawar too should look into this matter. If such bloodshed keeps taking place, it would not be conducive for Maharashtra’s political culture. I will be meeting Pawar saheb regarding this issue.
