15th August 2021 । Mr. Raj Thackeray’s public message to the people of India

As citizens of an independent nation, we are entering our 75th year.

As citizens of an Independent nation, we are entering our 75th year. There is a reason why I’ve said ‘we’; since a nation eventually, is the people that make it- ‘We, the people of India’.

On 15th August, 1947, we got our independence. Since then, we have excelled in various fields and spheres. However, I do ask this question, that has this progress been comprehensively uniformed across the country? Have all the states benefitted from it? Unfortunately, the answer is no.

Unequal growth and development has put our country into a quandary. The population is exploding, since the agricultural sector can’t reach up to the huge numbers for employment there is a huge strain on the industrial and service sectors to provide jobs, lack of opportunities in education and jobs have resulted in migration and so in order to address these issues, one cannot look at these issues in isolation. We have to take a holistic approach and look at it within a larger, national perspective.

Last seven decades, the main agenda and issues for election campaigns have been road development, water and electricity. It’s only in the recent years, one sees glimpses of education and health being given importance. The discourse about the issues such as pollution, biodiversity and environment around the world is way beyond the imagination of our public representatives. Fortunately, the younger generation has a keen awareness of these issues. They are extremely well informed and keep themselves updated with the current happenings all over. They have a grip on the reality and the problems our country is facing and know exactly, what is missing! We need to look after our future generations.

In our country and our state, there is propagation of hatred being spread in all spheres. This is an alarming situation and at no cost should it lead to the youth being disillusioned and their dreams shattered. Instead, all the destructive power hungry elements should be brought down to their knees and the spirit of ‘Satyameva Jayate’ should be infused in the youth. To inculcate our youth with this courage and create a conducive environment for it, is the need of the hour.

What happened in the past seven decades has happened. However, what path we carve for ourselves in the future, is in our hands. Mine, yours and ours!!

My heartiest greetings to all on our Independence Day.
